- Upright
- loss, grief, regret
- Reversed
- acceptance, moving on
Upright meaning
Sadness, regret, loss and disappointment. The Five of Water speaks of a time when you look at what went wrong and struggle to see what remains. Like the figure by the river beneath the waterfalls, mourning three spilled cups, you don't yet see the two full ones behind you. Grief is necessary, but it isn't the end.
Reversed meaning
Coming out of mourning, forgiveness, acceptance and joy slowly returning. You are starting to turn towards what remains.
Love and relationships
Heartbreak, a breakup, regret for what has passed. Reversed: making peace, forgiving, being ready for something new.

The card's advice
Grieve what needs grieving, then turn towards what you still have.
