Eight of Cups
Eight of Water · a card from the Eutheum deck
- Upright
- walking away, seeking deeper meaning
- Reversed
- fear of change, aimless drifting
Upright meaning
Walking away from something that is no longer enough, and searching for deeper meaning. The Eight of Water speaks of the courage to leave the familiar, even if on the surface it seems fine. Like the woman traveller leaving her neatly arranged cups at night and heading for the mountains, you are going where what you're really looking for awaits.
Reversed meaning
Fear of leaving, hesitation, staying out of duty, or running away without a goal. Ask yourself what you are leaving, and what you are walking towards.
Love and relationships
Leaving a relationship that no longer nourishes you, or needing something more from it. Reversed: fear of change, staying against your own will.
Work and money
Changing to more meaningful work, dropping a project that brings no satisfaction. Reversed: staying put out of fear.
The card's advice
You have the right to walk away from what no longer nourishes you.
In Natuland
A woman traveller with a staff walks away at night from carefully arranged cups, towards the mountains. Sometimes you have to leave what is familiar to find what you are really looking for.
Symbols on the card
- Cups left behind: what is no longer enough.
- An eclipsed moon: a time of transformation.
