The Devil tarot card (Zertus) from the Eutheum deck

The Devil

Zertus · a card from the Eutheum deck

Upright
attachment, temptation, the shadow self
Reversed
release, breaking free

Upright meaning

Attachment, temptation, addiction, or a relationship or situation that holds you captive. The Devil shows the shadows: obsession, jealousy, fear, materialism. Like Zertus, a lord of darkness fed by obsession and envy, the card speaks of a power that only binds you as long as you believe in it. The chains are often looser than they seem.

Reversed meaning

Breaking free: dropping bad habits, leaving a toxic relationship, regaining control over yourself. The first step towards freedom has already been taken.

Love and relationships

Strong attraction and passion, but also jealousy, possessiveness, and a relationship that takes more than it gives. Reversed: freeing yourself from an unhealthy relationship, or from your own jealousy.

Work and money

A job that traps you, debts, chasing money at your own expense. Reversed: getting out of a financial trap, the courage to change an unfavourable situation.

The card's advice

Name what is holding you. That is the first step to freeing yourself.

In Natuland

Ruler of the Dragotes and the embodiment of dark energy. From his swamp fortress in Pandemort he strives to seize Eutheum, the source of all power. He is obsession and darkness given shape.
