The Magician

Mia and the Jug · a card from the Eutheum deck

Upright

willpower, skill, manifestation

Reversed

manipulation, untapped potential

Upright meaning

You have everything you need to start. The Magician is willpower, skill and agency: intention turning into action. Like Mia, who discovers that a small jug holds more water than it should, you may discover a power in yourself greater than you thought. It's time to join the dream with concrete action.

Reversed meaning

Unused potential, scattered energy, or doubts about your own abilities. It can also be a warning against manipulation: someone else's, or your own when you want to reach a goal by a shortcut. The card asks whether your actions match your intention.

Love and relationships

Initiative, charm and confidence. A good moment to express your feelings and make the first move. Reversed: someone may be saying more than they intend to do, or playing a role instead of being themselves.

Work and money

Favours new projects, presentations, negotiations and anything that takes skill and persuading others. Your talents are your capital. Reversed: spreading your energy over too many things at once.

The card's advice

Use what is already in your hands. Don't wait for perfect tools.

In Natuland

A red-haired swimmer who dreams of studying medicine. At the school dance she puts out a fire with water from a small jug, and more water pours out than it could ever have held. It is the first sign that the element of water has chosen her as its champion.

Symbols on the card

• One hand raised to the sky, the other pointing to the ground: "as above, so below", joining the spiritual with the real.
• Water in the shape of infinity: a power that is only just waking, but has no limits.
• Four objects on the table (a cup, a burning staff, a lightning blade, a golden disc): all four elements, which means all the tools, are within reach.
• Red roses and white lilies: passion and purity.
• The Drateus sign on her chest: the symbol of the power of water.
